Bolor
The Bolor are large, four-legged birds of Mount Targon, sentient carnivores that hunt across the region's mountainous heights.
The Bolor are large, four-legged birds native to Mount Targon, counted among the region's carnivores and living as predators of its heights. Unlike most birds, which stand and move on two legs, the Bolor carry themselves on all fours, and they keep to the high, uneven terrain of the mountain. They feed on other animals, hunting across the slopes rather than scavenging.
In flight the Bolor is a gliding hunter. It travels in long, leaping bounds carried on the mountain's thermal currents, its feathered limbs shaped for aerodynamic movement, and it is known for the trilling cry it sounds just before dropping on a target. Stray tamu are among its favored prey, picked off when they wander from safety along the high paths.
Targonians know the creature well enough to make an image of it. In the account known as The Face in Her Stars, a warrior stalking an opponent across the sparring ground likens their own low, patient advance to that of a hungry bolor, a comparison that carries the animal's reputation as a stalking predator into everyday speech.
The Bolor carry the designation of sentient, which marks them as more aware than a common animal rather than a beast of pure instinct. The species is not among the lost creatures of Runeterra; it endures on Mount Targon today. No champion is directly tied to the Bolor.
