Cats are a feline species classified as both sentient and sapient, which sets them apart from ordinary animals as a race with awareness and reason. Their populations are spread widely across Runeterra, and they are also found in Bandle City, giving the species a foothold in both the mortal world and that hidden realm. The range of cats centers on settled places in temperate climates, a grouping that takes in cities, villages, and tribal communities alike. Within Runeterra their presence is specifically recorded in the regions of Piltover and Zaun. Cats are not counted among Runeterra's lost races, so the species endures as a living part of the world rather than a vanished one. Cats also thread through the stories of several champions. Braum, Lulu, Singed, Teemo, Tristana, and Yuumi each hold a recorded link to the race, tying this common creature to figures scattered across the world's history and its magic.
