Crag Beast
A house-to-tower sized boar of Demacia armored in stony hide, the Crag Beast raids settlements and is vulnerable only at its blue-blooded belly.
The Crag Beast is a giant animal of Demacia, resembling an oversized boar. It takes its name from the steppe crags where it makes its home, and from that high, rocky ground it ranges out across the open countryside. For all its wild nature, the Crag Beast is counted among the sentient creatures of Runeterra rather than dismissed as a simple brute.
The species is often sighted roaming the Demacian countryside, and the villages there have good reason to fear it. Crag Beasts regularly turn on nearby settlements and attack them, a habit that has made the animal a persistent threat to the people who live within its range.
A full-grown Crag Beast varies enormously in size, from roughly that of a house to something closer to a large tower. Its body is wrapped in a rocky hide so thick that swords, spears, and comparable weapons struggle to pierce it. The single gap in this natural armor is the belly, where the skin remains soft. That softer skin, along with the animal's organs and blood, carries a distinct blue tinge. Heavy tusks and sharp fangs complete its formidable build.
Poppy, the Keeper of the Hammer of Orlon, holds a place in the beast's recorded history. She once confronted one of these creatures and rescued an entire settlement from it, and it is largely through that deed that she is remembered in connection with the species.
