Eka'Sul

The Eka'Sul are a species of goat native to Shurima, at home in the vast desert that covers much of the region. They live as part of its hardy animal population, enduring an environment that offers little shelter and less mercy. What sets them apart is their classification as sentient, a status that lifts them above ordinary grazing stock. Rather than scattering to survive alone, the Eka'Sul gather into herds and move together across the open sands, their flocks crossing the desert as a single body. Life in the deep desert is perilous even for creatures so well suited to it. The same winds that shape the dunes can turn lethal without warning, and a sandstorm's fury is measured against the Eka'Sul themselves. In the account known as Bloodline, when Nasus conjures a roaring hurricane of sand to overwhelm the hierophant Azrahir Thelamu and his warriors, the storm is likened to the deep desert winds that can strip a flock of Eka'Sul to the bone in minutes, sand penetrating every gap in armor to scour the skin raw beneath. Invoked this way, the Eka'Sul become a grim yardstick for the harshness of the land they call home, a reminder that the herds out on the open sands endure conditions capable of flaying flesh from bone.
