Elder Dragon

The Elder Dragon is the most ancient and powerful of all draconic creatures in Runeterra, the apex of a lineage that predates mortal civilization. In Runeterra's mythology, dragons are not tamed beasts or corrupted monsters but elemental forces of fire, earth, ocean, cloud, and spirit that have existed since before the first cities rose. The Elder Dragon crowns this order, a being of such immense power that its very presence reshapes the ground around it. On Summoner's Rift it emerges as the ultimate late-game objective, rising in the dragon pit only after the elemental drakes have already run their course. The Infernal, Ocean, Mountain, and Cloud drakes each contest their element and reshape the battlefield to match it, burning away terrain, spawning new brush and Honeyfruit, raising rock formations, or opening zones of quickened movement. Once those elemental souls have been claimed and the Rift has taken its final form, the Elder Dragon arrives as the last and greatest prize. Felling it is a pivotal moment that can turn the tide of any conflict, granting the victors the power to execute wounded enemies outright. Even champions approach the creature with extreme caution. Its legend casts it as something to be met with reverence rather than confidence, a predator said to smell fear on those who face it. It shares this draconic heritage with Runeterra's dragon-blooded champions, among them Shyvana and Aurelion Sol, but stands above them all as the oldest and mightiest of its kind, a titanic force whose breath carries the combined essence of every element.
