Golden Narwhal

The Golden Narwhal is a large aquatic mammal of Runeterra and a carnivore. It makes its home in the deep seas surrounding the Serpent Isles, the treacherous waters that lie beyond the pirate port of Bilgewater. Among Bilgewater's sailors, the golden narwhal is familiar enough to surface in drunken folklore. In the tale "Dead in the Water," Sarah Fortune's skeleton crew aboard the Moon Serpent works through a bottle of foul rum while trading ever more ridiculous theories about how a man named Aligh met his end. Petyr caps the contest with a preposterous story of Aligh being led out to sea in a golden narwhal costume by the Trickster, only to be carved up by the Bloodharbor Ripper in a tragic case of mistaken identity. The joke reveals little about the animal itself, but it marks the golden narwhal as a fixture of the region's seafaring imagination, a creature known well enough that its shape can anchor a tall tale.
