Greathorn

The greathorn is a large herbivorous mammal that lives in the temperate forests of Demacia, closely resembling a great stag in form. The largest bulls carry an enormous rack of antlers, one observed by the ranger Quinn spanning easily two arm spans across. As the seasons turn, a greathorn's coat begins to change, its fur turning pale and silvery in anticipation of the approaching winter. The creatures roam the untamed woodlands that spread across the foothills of the Eastweald Mountains in northern Demacia, terrain thick with ferns, ivy, moss-slick rocks, and tangled roots. They are unhurried and self-assured animals. When Quinn came upon a greathorn stag while moving through those woods, the beast held its ground rather than fleeing, standing unafraid even once it had seen her. She greeted it with a nod, saying, "Honor and respect, noble one." Among Demacians, some hold that encountering a greathorn is a good omen. Quinn was not certain the belief was true, but she was willing to take it, reflecting that in recent times, with the kingdom troubled by rebel mages emboldened by the killing of the king, Demacia needed as many good omens as it could get.
