Hawk

Creature of Runeterra

Versatile raptors found across Runeterra, serving as scouts and hunting companions.

Hawks of many species range across the skies of Runeterra, where they serve as scouts, messengers, and hunting companions to the people below. Prized for their keen eyes and command of the open air, these raptors appear in nearly every culture of the world, shaped to the needs and beliefs of the region that keeps them. Their forms and purposes vary widely from land to land. In Ionia, spirit hawks carry messages between the temples. In Noxus, trained war hawks are sent ahead of the armies to scout enemy positions, while Demacia raises war eagles of its own. Oldest of all were the sun hawks of ancient Shurima, said to have possessed wingspans of twenty feet as they circled in pairs high above the desert, birds bound to the age of Azir and his empire. Not every winged shadow overhead is truly a hawk. Swain's demonic raven, Beatrice, is often mistaken for one at a distance, a reminder that raptors carry ominous meaning as well as noble. Across Runeterra's many cultures the hawk endures as a symbol of vigilance, freedom, and the untamed sky.
