Ibex

The Ibex is a large, four-legged mammal native to the mountainous heights of Targon. A grazing herbivore, it picks its way across the steep slopes and windswept ridges of the great mountain, where howling gales sweep the peaks and make survival a daily test. Targonian tradition remembers the ibex as a timid, easily startled creature of the high country. A local lullaby leans on that same landscape to soothe frightened children, bidding them not to fear the howling gale as it blows across the mountain and through the dale, promising that a mother is near. The fear of the mountain wind and the skittishness of its wild creatures blur into a single image, a reminder of how small any living thing can feel against the immensity of Targon.
