Plundercrab

Creature of Runeterra

Treasure-hoarding crustaceans of Bilgewater that steal anything shiny.

The plundercrab is a large, treasure-hoarding crustacean native to the coasts of Bilgewater, where it lurks in the port's harbors, docks, and coastal caves. Counted among the region's magical beasts, it is one of the more distinctive creatures of the pirate haven's crowded waterfront. The plundercrab earns its name through a single-minded habit: it steals. Coins, jewels, and anything else that glitters draw its attention, and it drags whatever shiny prize it can seize back to its burrow to add to a growing hoard. This makes it a persistent thief along the docks, forever hauling bright trinkets out of sight and into its den. To the pirates of Bilgewater, the plundercrab is both an irritation and an opportunity, since a single burrow may hold nothing one day and a small fortune of pilfered valuables the next. In a port where nearly everyone is out to take something, the creature fits right in, a fitting emblem of a place whose thieving nature runs all the way down to its wildlife. That reputation follows the plundercrab into Legends of Runeterra, where the crabs appear as cheeky followers of Bilgewater.
