Scuttle Crab

Creature of Runeterra

A timid river-dwelling crab that flees from combat and grants vision when slain.

The Rift Scuttler, known almost universally as the Scuttle Crab, is a timid, hermit-crab-like creature that makes its home in the river winding through the heart of Summoner's Rift. Where the jungle's other beasts bristle and attack, the Scuttler wants nothing to do with a fight. When a champion draws near, it simply turns and scurries away, hurrying along the water in search of safer ground. For all its meekness, the Scuttle Crab is a prize worth chasing. Catch and defeat it and it leaves behind two gifts: a speed shrine that hastens whoever crosses it, and a lingering vision of the surrounding stretch of river. That sight is precious in the opening minutes of a battle, when knowledge of an enemy's movements can decide who holds the upper hand, and so the harmless little crab becomes one of the most fiercely contested early objectives on the map. Its gentle temperament sets it apart from every other creature of the Rift, and that peaceful nature has earned it a fondness rare among the wilds it inhabits. The Scuttle Crab asks for nothing and threatens no one, yet its speed shrine and its watchful eye make it far more valuable than its modest size would ever suggest.
