Scarab (Shuriman)

Shuriman Scarabs are sacred beetles held in reverence across the ancient empire of Shurima, where they were honored as living symbols of the sun and of rebirth. Larger than the mundane beetles found elsewhere in Runeterra, they were regarded not as pests but as small emblems of the empire's solar faith. Some of these scarabs are imbued with residual solar magic drawn from the Sun Disc, and this lingering power leaves them glowing faintly with golden light. They are most often found around the empire's ancient places, the ruins, tombs, and temples of a fallen civilization, as well as near the Sun Disc itself, where that solar magic runs strongest. Beyond their appearance, the scarabs carried deep spiritual meaning for the Shuriman people, who believed the beetles bore the souls of the dead onward to the afterlife. This ties them to the empire's solar worship and its beliefs about death and rebirth, themes that run through the stories of champions such as Azir and Amumu.
