Silverwing Raptor

Silverwing raptors are eagle-like magical beasts native to the highlands of Demacia. They are distinguished by shimmering silver plumage and wingspans that rival the size of a warhorse, and among Demacians they are counted among the most revered creatures in the kingdom. Fiercely intelligent, a silverwing bonds deeply with its rider. The birds keep to the high cliffs and mountain ranges of Demacia's northern reaches, the craggy, chasm-riddled hinterlands that lie beyond the fertile heartland. These are dangerous lands, home to fell creatures and wild beasts, and the raptors belong to that wilderness as much as any of them. Travelers passing through the northwest marches, as Lux did on her journey to Fossbarrow, hear silverwing raptors screeching overhead and dueling unseen in the clouds while the deep cold of the neighboring Freljord presses down from the dogtooth mountains. So closely are the birds tied to this country that one of its settlements, High Silvermere, is known simply as the City of Raptors. For all their wildness, silverwings are prized above all as partners in war. Demacia's elite aerial cavalry, the Silverwing Flight, rides them into battle, and the unit stands among the kingdom's most prestigious fighting forces. The Flight is led by Quinn, whose own silverwing, Valor, is her constant partner. Together, mount and rider fight as one, a bond that lies at the heart of Demacian military culture.
