During the Spirit Blossom Festival in Ionia, the barrier that separates the mortal realm from the spirit realm grows thin, and spirits slip across into the living world. Their true home is the spirit realm, and it is chiefly in this season that so many of them walk openly among the people of Ionia. The spirits take many forms. Some are benevolent nature spirits, gentle presences tied to the land, while others are restless ghosts who linger in search of the closure they never found in life. Each one reflects some aspect of Ionian myth and legend, and together they embody the province's oldest beliefs about the cycle of life, death, and what waits beyond it. The festival exists in part to honor these entities and in part to help guide lost souls toward their final rest. As one of the most significant cultural events in Ionian tradition, it turns memory, mourning, and the afterlife into shared ritual, and its imagery reaches across the stories of the champions tied to it, among them Thresh, Ahri, Yasuo, Yone, Kindred, and Lillia.
