Void Burrower
Eyeless Void tunnelers with rotating maws that destabilize the earth above.
Void Burrowers are medium-sized creatures of the Void that tunnel through the earth in any region where the Void's influence runs strong. Within the ranks of the Voidborn they occupy a middle place, larger and more dangerous than the Voidlings, yet cruder and less intelligent than the Xer'Sai. They move and dig without sight, their eyeless heads dominated by circular maws lined with rotating teeth built to grind through rock and soil alike.
A Void Burrower's threat comes less from any direct assault than from what its digging leaves behind. As it bores through the ground, it destabilizes the earth above, hollowing out the layers below until the surface can no longer bear its own weight. Sinkholes open without warning and whatever stands overhead collapses into the tunnels beneath, so they can undermine settled land long before anything is seen to move under it.
They are found most often in the underground of Void-touched lands, especially beneath Shurima and the ruins of Icathia, where the Void's hold on the world is strongest. In this the Burrowers express the insidious character of the Void itself, a corruption that works not by open invasion from above but by eating away at the very ground on which civilizations are built.
