Void Remora
Parasitic eel-like Void creatures that attach to larger Void entities.
The Void Remora is a parasitic creature of the Void, sleek and eel-like, its body covered in barbed hooks that let it fasten onto far larger Void entities. Rather than hunt for itself, it feeds on the raw energy of whatever host it clings to and scavenges the remains of that host's kills. It sits low in the Void's own strange ecology, a reminder that even among the Voidborn there is a food chain, with parasites and scavengers living off the predators above them.
In the material world, Void Remora are most often seen trailing the great Voidborn, drifting in the wake of monsters such as Vel'Koz and Cho'Gath and picking clean the ruin they leave behind. Wherever the larger creatures roam, the remora follow, attaching to them or gathering close by.
Their true home is the Void itself, where they gather in staggering numbers. When the Void tore through the city of Belveth and gave rise to the empress Bel'Veth, born from the memories and matter of everyone it devoured, thousands of Void remora poured from the jagged holes that opened in that shifting, alien space. Schools numbering in the tens of thousands wheel around the empress like birds circling a distant peak, moving among the inverted, coral-like structures of her drowned realm. So dense are these swarms that any who would reach Bel'Veth must first cut through the remora massed in her defense before the empress herself can be faced.
