Worax

The Worax is a large herbivore of Ionia, a herd animal that has been likened to a buffalo with the features of a goat. Like other grazing beasts, it lives and moves in groups, feeding on the plant life of the region rather than hunting, and it poses no danger to the people who share the land with it. For all its placid nature, the Worax is best known for the noise it makes. A pregnant worax in particular grows especially loud and vocal, and its clamor is notorious enough that Ionians invoke it whenever they mean to describe something that cannot keep still or silent. To be compared to a pregnant worax is to be called anything but quiet. That saying carries an edge in the confrontation between Shen and Zed at the White Cliffs Inn. When the candle on his table flickered wrongly, Shen slid away and drew his blades, telling the room that Zed's students were as quiet as a pregnant worax. The remark was pure irony, for the creature is far from silent, and Shen meant that he had already sensed the hidden attackers closing around him. Only then did Zed, alone and dressed like a merchant, step inside and take a seat three tables away.
