Jagged Hooks

The Jagged Hooks are among the oldest and most savage of Bilgewater's dock gangs, a crew that swears undying loyalty to the reaver king Gangplank. In a port city where rival fleets, each marked by its own symbols and traditions, constantly war among themselves for dominance, the Hooks served as the muscle behind Gangplank's rule. Heavily armed and quick to violence, they earned a reputation for savagery across the Rat Town slaughter docks, one of the foulest districts in Bilgewater. Their chief duty was to guard their master's holdings. In the events of Burning Tides, the Jagged Hooks warded one of Gangplank's warehouses on the slaughter docks, a hoard stacked high with treasures from across the Twelve Seas, from gleaming suits of armor to exotic art and shining silks. When the card sharp Twisted Fate slipped inside to steal an ornate, power-laden dagger and the gunslinger Graves crashed in hunting an old score, the warehouse erupted into a firefight, dozens of Hooks roaring in through the doors while others held the exits barred. The crew's presence made Gangplank untouchable. With the fierce Jagged Hooks always at his side, he was far too powerful to confront openly, and no one in Bilgewater dared challenge him directly. That protection, however, could not save him from Miss Fortune. Nursing a lifelong grudge, she gathered a small and loyal cadre and wove plots within plots against the reaver king, until his flagship, the Dead Pool, was blown to flaming wreckage in the harbor and he was overthrown in full view of the city. With Gangplank fallen, Bilgewater's rival captains descended into open warfare for control until Miss Fortune, as captain of the Syren, brokered an uneasy truce that has held since. The Jagged Hooks endure as their king's crew, still bound to the tyrant who once ruled the docks.
