Noble Houses of Demacia

The Noble Houses of Demacia are its aristocratic families, each sworn in fealty to the crown, and together they form one of the kingdom's principal political powers. Demacia is a monarchy, and rule is shared among its royal families, who regulate the kingdom chiefly through their seats on the Demacian Council. Leadership of this order falls to Jarvan IV, and the houses remain an active force in Demacian life. The houses command considerable wealth. The nobility and the tax-collectors of Demacia keep coffers and chests of coin, marking the houses as a propertied class at the head of the kingdom's society. That entrenchment has made the noble houses a target for revolt. Sylas of Dregbourne, held in a cell within Demacia, came to burn with the desire to see the monarchy and the noble houses fall. From confinement and beyond it he fomented considerable resistance inside the kingdom's own borders, lighting the fires of rebellion against the aristocracy that ruled him. To fund his cause he took coin from the coffers of the tax-collectors and nobility of his homeland, turning the wealth of the houses against them.
