Sylas's Mage Rebellion

Faction of Runeterra

Sylas's revolutionary uprising of persecuted Demacian mages against the crown.

The Mage Rebellion is a revolutionary movement in Demacia led by Sylas, a former prisoner of the Mageseekers who can absorb and redirect the magic of others. Held in petricite shackles, Sylas broke free and turned against his captors, rallying the persecuted mages of Demacia into open revolt against the crown and the Mageseekers who hunted them. A resistance movement rather than a standing army, the rebellion operates from mobile camps scattered across Demacia rather than any fixed stronghold. Its enemies are the two pillars of Demacian authority: the Mageseekers, who imprison and control those born with magic, and the crown itself. Beyond Demacia's borders it has found temporary common cause with the Freljord, an alliance of convenience for as long as it holds. Arising in the modern era, the rebellion threatens to tear Demacia apart. By demanding freedom for the kingdom's persecuted mages, it challenges centuries of anti-magic doctrine and forces Demacia to confront its own hypocrisy. The uprising remains active, with Sylas still at its head and the mages of Demacia still in open defiance of the throne.
