Trifarian Legion

The Trifarian Legion is the elite standing army of Noxus and the fighting arm of the ruling Trifarix, raised in the era after the fall of Boram Darkwill as Swain rose to Grand General. Its soldiers are chosen as the embodiment of Noxian strength in all its forms, and in the field they answer to Darius, the Hand of Noxus. Where the aristocratic houses and spymasters work through whispers and deals, the Legion is the empire's open, disciplined might, widely reckoned the most feared fighting force on Valoran. At home the Legion garrisons Noxus Prime and holds the Immortal Bastion. Its legionaries are figures of blackened iron plate and blood-red capes, faces hidden behind spiked war helms, wielding halberds longer than a man is tall, and at the Bastion's gates they stand as the bars themselves. After Swain seized power, Legion patrols locked the fortress down to shield the Trifarix from its enemies, and the Grand General keeps an honor guard handpicked from their ranks. As the saying warns, one does not run from the Trifarian Legion. In war the Legion is the vanguard of Noxian conquest. It won the Gates of Mourning, a battle the Demacian hero Diadoro was famed for holding against its armored host for a full day, and its columns have carried the empire into Ionia and Demacia. When Noxus marched into the Freljord against the Winter's Claw, Darius led the Legion himself, digging trenches beside the common infantry and driving his soldiers by a single creed: face the enemy, for a Noxian never flees. The Legion recruits for raw strength above birth or wealth, so much so that even a dying Demacian warden judged Garen worthy of its ranks, yet some legionaries quietly dread being sent after the fugitive Rell, whose power over metal could doom them.
