Winter's Claw
A fierce Freljordian warband led by Sejuani, built on strength and conquest.
The Winter's Claw is the most aggressive of the Freljord's three great tribes, led by the warmother Sejuani, called the Fury of the North. Its creed is simple and merciless: take what you need, and freeze what stands in your way. The tribe holds that only the strong deserve to survive and that kindness is a luxury the frozen north cannot afford. Sejuani was hardened by her grandmother Kalkia's belief that the weak perish, and she rides into battle atop Bristle, a massive boar, leading raids against neighboring tribes and even striking into Demacian and Noxian territory.
To those loyal to the rival Avarosans, the Winter's Claw are a feared horde who leave burnt villages and shredded banners in their wake. Yet the tribe is more than a band of raiders. Its warbands return laden with the spoils of conquest, weapons, food, and recruits, and whole villages have chosen to join rather than resist. Around the campfires her warriors sing her name, revealing a warmother who, like Ashe, seeks to unite the Freljord, but through strength and conquest rather than diplomacy.
Sejuani's campaign has drawn fearsome allies to her side. The berserker Olaf, chasing a warrior's death, challenged the Winter's Claw and fought her to a standstill, whereupon she swore to grant him his glorious end if he lent his axe to her conquest. The spirit walker Udyr, convinced that the Avarosan drive to unite the tribes was killing the very spirits of the land, rallied his brethren to fight the Avarosan advance alongside the Winter's Claw.
The tribe's rivalry with Ashe and her Avarosans forms the central struggle of the Freljord, and the growing violence of the Winter's Claw threatens the fragile coalition Ashe has built. Unknown to both warmothers, the Ice Witch Lissandra and her Frostguard manipulate the conflict from the shadows for ends of their own.
