Helia (Blessed Isles)
Once the learned capital of the Blessed Isles, reduced to ruin by the Ruination in 25 BN.
Helia was the capital of the Blessed Isles, a city renowned across Runeterra as a seat of learning and knowledge. Within it lay the Waters of Life, and through the long age of the Blessed Isles that stretched from roughly 5000 BN to 25 BN, Helia stood as the heart of that hidden realm. Its rise followed the earlier Westward Migration, which unfolded in the centuries between about 6000 BN and 5000 BN.
Everything changed with the Ruination in 25 BN. In that catastrophe Helia was reduced to ruins, and the Blessed Isles themselves were corrupted into the Shadow Isles. The city and its fall are bound to many of Runeterra's darkest figures, among them Viego, Kalista, Hecarim, Karthus, and Maokai, with Ryze and Ivern also counted among those connected to its history.
Today Helia survives only as wreckage upon the Shadow Isles, a shattered capital that has lain in ruin since the Ruination. It endures as a notable relic of the world that existed before the isles were lost, its knowledge and its Waters of Life swallowed by the destruction that unmade them.
