Hirana Monastery

Location in Runeterra

Lee Sin and Udyr broke a Noxian siege here before training under its abbot in self-mastery.

Hirana Monastery is a monastery in Ionia and the home of the Hirana Order. It stands on Ralin, an island in Ionia's northern reaches, and keeps close cultural ties to the Shojin Monastery. Those who lead the order teach the discipline of self-mastery, though its abbotts hold that such mastery has no guaranteed end. The monastery remains active. Its recorded history centers on the First Noxian-Ionian War, when Hirana was besieged by Noxian invaders. Lee Sin and Udyr reached the monastery at the end of a long journey from the Freljord, only to find it under attack. Calling upon the spirits of Ionia, Udyr threw himself into the fighting, and together the two men drove off the invaders and lifted the siege. After the victory, Lee Sin and Udyr sought out the abbott and asked how they might learn control over the powers they carried. The abbott warned them that self-mastery had no guaranteed end, but agreed to train them both. Under his guidance, Udyr's mind fell quiet enough for him to hear his own thoughts for the first time, and the two trained together to master the spirits within and beside them. Through that work, Udyr helped Lee Sin and his dragon spirit find balance with one another.
