Icathia
First city consumed by the Void after rebelling against the Shuriman Empire.
Icathia is the ruin of the first and greatest city ever to fall to the Void, a blasted wasteland in the east where reality itself remains torn and corrupted. Once it was a proud nation ruled by its Mage Kings, before it was conquered and ground beneath the heel of the Shuriman empire and reduced to a satrapy. Its people never forgot what they had been. The memory of their lost independence, and of the cruelty of their conquerors, smoldered in Icathian hearts for generations.
The old order fell hard. When the last Mage King resisted Shurima and died in battle, his Kohari, the deadly life-wards sworn to protect him, followed their ruler into death by ritual suicide. The Shuriman emperor displayed their decaying bodies for all to see and impaled the Mage King himself above the city gates, leaving his bones to molder as a warning. That humiliation hardened Icathia's resentment into something desperate.
In its rebellion against Shurima, Icathia reached for a weapon no mortal should ever have touched. Its sorcerers tore open a portal to the Void, hoping to break the empire's grip once and for all. Instead the Void poured through, consuming the city and everyone in it and unleashing horrors that nearly devoured the whole of Runeterra. From the ashes of that catastrophe only one figure is believed to have emerged, the warrior known today as Jax, who carries the weight of his people's extinction and an unshakeable resolve that the Void must never be allowed to succeed again.
