Kenethet

Location in Runeterra

Taliyah passed through with a caravan on her long journey home, shaping stone as she rode.

Kenethet is a desert city in eastern Shurima, standing on the northern borders of the Sai near the sands of the Sai Kahleek. It is a notorious waypoint for those crossing the deep desert, its bone-souks drawing armed trade caravans down from the north. Heavily guarded trains of Nerimazeth silk-merchants run south to Kenethet, and from its markets travelers strike out along the winding course of the Mother of Life toward the reborn city of Vekaura, farther into the sands. Kenethet is also a home of skilled stonemasons. One such apprentice left the city in the employ of Arch-Mason Nouria, whose carvings adorned the silk palace at Nashramae and the Sun Temple of Bel'zhun. Carrying only a rug his mother had given him as a parting gift, he followed Nouria across the northern reaches of the Sai Kahleek to the small town of Xolan, where they labored to restore a faceless god carved into the cliffs. Even among the two hundred souls of Xolan, he built his humble house in the understated style of his mother's home in Kenethet, and listened at night for the pygmy owls that once nested in the night-woods at the desert's edge near his birthplace. The roads leading to Kenethet have seen their own wonders. Travelers on the way to the city told of a wandering weaver girl who worked marvels with the very stone of the land, feats strange enough to be recalled years later by those who witnessed them. It was along these northern desert routes that Taliyah passed on her long journey home, riding through Kenethet with a caravan before shaping the living rock beneath her and racing ever southward.
