Kumungu Jungle
Vast ancient rainforest bordering Ixtal, teeming with deadly wildlife and ruins.
The Kumungu Jungle is a vast and ancient rainforest that spreads across the borders of Ixtal and reaches beyond them into unclaimed wilderness. Counted as a natural wonder, it is one of the region's most notable features, an expanse of dense growth so old and untamed that it has never been brought under the control of any civilization.
Life within the jungle is hostile to outsiders. Its depths teem with dangerous wildlife and toxic flora, and the canopy hides hazards at every turn. Those who venture in face a landscape that seems to resist their presence, and expeditions into the Kumungu have failed to master it. The jungle behaves almost as though it possesses a will of its own, turning back every attempt to settle or civilize it.
The rainforest is also a graveyard of older ambitions. Remnants of old Shuriman outposts lie scattered through the undergrowth, swallowed by the relentless growth until only fragments remain. Ancient ruins still peek through the canopy, marking where earlier powers once reached into the wilderness before the jungle reclaimed them. Though wild and overgrown, the Kumungu remains inhabited, a living wilderness that endures on the edge of Ixtal.
