Marus Omegnum
Known as the Veiled Temple, it phases into the physical world only during rare lunar events.
Marus Omegnum, known as the Veiled Temple, is an ancient Lunari temple fortress bound to Mount Targon. For most of its existence it rests within the spirit realm, hidden from the physical world. Only when celestial cycles turn during rare lunar events does it phase into the physical realm and appear on the mountain, and it remains active in that role.
Each time the fortress comes into phase, it accepts only a single occupant, one gifted in magic, chosen as the balance of power shifts in the heavens. Its emergence draws the Lunari from across Targon, who gather to witness the moment. Long driven into hiding by the Solari, they emerge from the shadows to see the temple pass through the veil in a display of luminous magic.
When Marus Omegnum came into phase for the first time in centuries, it was Alune, sister of Aphelios and a trained seer, whose orbit guided her to the temple as its chosen occupant. Aphelios, who rarely asked for anything, requested to attend. But as the fortress crossed the veil, the Solari discovered the gathering and descended upon it with an army, purging the Lunari with fire and steel. Aphelios was beaten and his moonstone blades shattered on the ground.
As the battle raged, Alune traveled deeper into the temple, and when she reached its heart, her full potential unlocked. Through the power of the noctum, she reached across to her brother and pushed magic into his hands, binding their fates together even as the assault fell upon them.
