Noxkraya Arena
Noxian arena where legal disputes are settled through trial by combat.
The Noxkraya Arena is a famous fighting structure in the Noxian capital where reckoning combats, known as Reckonings, are held to settle disputes of honor, law, and politics. Unlike the Fleshing, which is fought for glory, the Noxkraya Arena is concerned with justice through combat. Disputes too complex for the courts are resolved on its sands, with the victorious combatant deemed to be in the right, making the arena a cornerstone of Noxian legal tradition.
A Reckoning is as much public spectacle as legal proceeding. Combatants fight before a roaring crowd while an arena battlecaster works the audience, billing the ground as a ring of fire and stoking the excitement of the reckoner fans. Mismatches are part of the entertainment, with unlucky fighters like Tiny Trik pitted against far mightier opponents such as Granaak the Great, and medics kept ready ringside for the quick and bloody endings such bouts promise. For the strong and the ruthless it is another proving ground, one more arena in a society where the tests never stop.
The arena also serves the empire's politics. In the proclamation issued after Jericho Swain's coup against Boram Darkwill, the new Grand General granted defiant noble houses seven days to conclude their affairs, surrender their lands and titles, and depart Noxus forever. Any who chose to remain in defiance would forfeit their lives, and public Reckonings were ordered to recommence in the Noxkraya Arena three days thereafter. In this way the arena became an instrument of the new regime, its Reckonings a public warning to any who would stand against the Grand General and his allied houses.
