Ornn's Forge
Hidden volcanic forge of the demigod Ornn, master craftsman of the Freljord.
Ornn's Forge is the legendary forge of Ornn, the Great Ram, the Freljordian demigod of craftsmanship and fire. Hidden deep within a volcanic mountain, it is where Ornn labors in solitude to create his masterwork items. The demigod prefers isolation above all else, and few mortals have ever found the forge. The fires within burn with a heat that can shape even the hardest materials in Runeterra.
The forge lies beyond the ruins of Hearth-Home, the settlement where Ornn's followers, the Hearthblood, once worshiped him. To an ordinary traveler the site appears as nothing but rubble and ruin, and its great hall, alive with roaring fire, can be reached only by those able to cross between the material and spirit realms. When Aurora tracked the Hearthblood's surviving artifacts back to Hearth-Home, she found only wreckage, and it was by opening a doorway between realms that she stepped through into the forge itself.
Ornn was not receptive to the visitor at first, but in time he recognized that Aurora, like him, valued solitude and quiet. As he came to trust her, he shared knowledge found nowhere else: the true name of her afflicted companion, Haestryr, once commonly called Hestrelk, a demigod and one of Ornn's own siblings who had been reduced to a distorted shadow as worship of the Old Gods waned. From Ornn she also learned of Ysjarn, the cryophoenix that guards the land through an endless cycle of birth, life, and death, and of his brother Valhir, whose relentless storm rages against the Freljord. The forge remains hidden, its location known to almost no one.
