Paretha

Location in Runeterra

Ezreal recovered the Elixir of Uloa from a trap-strewn hovel near this outpost.

Paretha is a semi-independent settlement of Ixtal, set in the jungle of the southern reaches of the Shuriman continent. It is one of the outlying villages and settlements that lie beyond Ixaocan, counted alongside places such as Ohmka and Xolen at the margins of the region's authority. Ixtal governs these frontier settlements at a remove, and through them maintains its long isolation from the rest of Runeterra. The most trusted of the Yun Tal may be designated as the prefects of outlying villages like Paretha. Their duties include resolving local disputes, testing those who come forward as aspirants, and generally ensuring that the Ixtali people have as little interaction with outsiders as possible. The jungle around Paretha still holds relics of an older age. It was in a trap-strewn hovel near the settlement that the explorer Ezreal recovered the Elixir of Uloa, a shimmering serum sealed in a vial of bone and crystal that he judged to be pre-classical Shuriman work. The elixir was prized enough that a single drop was said to quench the soul for a thousand years and give a man skin as tough as petricite, and Ezreal carried it out of the collapsing ruin to sell to a collector named Januk. Paretha itself remains active, an inhabited outpost of Ixtal far from the roads and eyes of the wider world.
