Solari Temple

Location in Runeterra

Grand temple of the sun-worshipping Solari order on Mount Targon.

The Solari Temple is the grand seat of the Solari, the dominant religious order of Mount Targon and worshippers of the sun. The order teaches that the sun is the source of all truth and life, and it governs itself through a strict hierarchy of warrior-priests who hold the temple as the center of their faith. The temple stands on the eastern slopes of Mount Targon, its entrance carved from gold-veined marble. Devotion here can be severe. In times of strife, a priest or scribe might withdraw into an outer sanctum and meditate for weeks without food or water, subsisting on nothing but the divine sustenance the sun provides them. From its ranks the order raised its greatest champion, Leona, the Radiant Dawn. For all their reverence for the light, the Solari carry a darker history alongside it: across generations they have persecuted the Lunari, those who worship the moon. That conflict runs directly through the temple's own halls. Diana, who would come to carry a celestial essence within her flesh, was raised among the Solari in the harsh environs of Mount Targon. Even as a child she favored the night, old enough to scramble over the temple walls and watch the moon traverse the vault of stars, drawn to the moon within the very temple of the sun. The temple remains inhabited, still the working heart of the Solari faith on the mountain.
