Targon is a realm apart from the rest of Runeterra, built around Mount Targon, the tallest and most remote mountain in the world. Its frigid slopes rise so high that they seem to brush the heavens, and the peoples who live upon them have always looked to the stars for meaning. To reach the summit is an existential trial that few survive. Those who endure the ascent and stand at the peak when the skies open may be chosen as host to a divine Aspect, a celestial power that fuses with the climber and remakes them into something far more than mortal. In this way Targon has produced champions like Pantheon, Leona, Diana, and Zoe, each a vessel of a cosmic force. Life on the mountain is defined by faith, and faith on Targon is divided. The Solari worship the Sun and long ruled the mountain, drawing their warriors from the Rakkor tribes and clad in golden armor to defend the Sun and her chosen. Against them stand the Lunari, keepers of the Moon, whom the Solari branded heretics and hunted nearly to extinction, driving the survivors into hidden temples and caves far from the sun's light. This old schism between sun and moon runs through nearly every story the mountain tells, from Leona's devotion to Diana's exile and to the secret vigil kept by Aphelios and his sister Alune.
