Aspect Channeling

Aspect Channeling occurs when a mortal climbs Mount Targon, the tallest peak in Runeterra, and is deemed worthy by one of the celestial Aspects. These Aspects are cosmic beings who embody fundamental concepts such as War, the Sun, the Moon, Protection, and Twilight, dwelling beyond the mortal realms in Targon Prime, the celestial city of gold and silver. An Aspect that judges a climber worthy infuses that mortal's body with a fraction of its power, transforming the host and granting abilities aligned with its domain. The bond makes hosts among the most powerful beings on Runeterra, and effectively ageless while it lasts. Leona channels the Aspect of the Sun, Diana the Moon, Taric the Protector, and Zoe the Aspect of Twilight. Pantheon is unique: after the original host Atreus was killed, his indomitable will reignited the Aspect's power on his own terms, free of celestial control. Such power carries a heavy price. The relationship between Aspect and host is often parasitic, and many hosts lose their identity to become puppets for that entity. The role drags mortals into cosmic conflicts far beyond their comprehension, and should the Aspect withdraw, the host may be left weakened or dead. Atreus reclaiming the power for himself remains exceptionally rare.
