Aspect

The Aspects are celestial beings bound to Mount Targon, the tallest peak in Runeterra and a meeting point between the mortal and celestial realms. Each embodies a fundamental concept, among them War, the Sun, the Moon, the Protector, and Twilight. Rather than walk the world themselves, they take mortal vessels: a climber who reaches the summit and proves worthy may be chosen and merged with the Aspect. The bond varies, for some hosts keep their identity while others are all but overwhelmed. The best known vessels each carry a different Aspect: Pantheon the Aspect of War, Leona the Sun, Diana the Moon, Taric the Protector, and Zoe the Aspect of Twilight and Change. Zoe was chosen as a child and merged seamlessly with her Aspect, while Atreus was judged unworthy by the Aspect of War itself. When the Darkin Aatrox slew that entity, Atreus reclaimed its power through sheer human will, becoming the first mortal to wield an Aspect's power on his own terms. This reverence has shaped all of Targon, a civilization oriented around the climb and the hope of celestial ascension. From it grew two rival faiths that have warred for centuries: the Solari, sun-worshippers led by Leona, and the Lunari, moon-worshippers allied with Diana.
