Brackern

The Brackern are a mortal species of enormous sapient scorpions whose origins lie on the Shuriman Continent, where they emerged as one of that land's native peoples rather than arrivals from elsewhere. They are counted among the oldest beings of Runeterra, and their presence spans both Shurima and Ixtal. Rather than a spoken tongue, they communicate through Vibrational Tones. Earth Elemental Magic sits at the center of what the Brackern are. No other beings reached that magic before them, and they built their crystalline development around it, drawing on it deeply as their kind advanced. That mastery of stone and earth remains the defining trait of the species. Brackern society is collective rather than individual. The species is split into a number of clans, and each clan answers to a bed of broodmothers who sit at its head. The champion Skarner is tied to this lineage.
