Darkin

The Darkin are what mortals came to call the God-Warriors of Shurima after those warriors turned against the world they had once defended. Their empire had fallen, and they had endured war after war, including the fighting against the Void. Out of that damage, the God-Warriors took up blood-magic on their own, without instruction, and set out to rule the world by force. They are a transformed race, sapient, and descended from the Ascended. None of them hold their old shape any longer. Every Darkin known to exist has been sealed inside a weapon, and there is no path back to the Ascended form each once wore. Aatrox and Xolaani are counted among those who worked blood magic with real skill, as was a third Darkin whose name is not recorded and who died at the hands of Vladimir. Traces of the Darkin reach across nearly the whole of Runeterra, with connections in Bandle City, Demacia, the Freljord, Ionia, Noxus, the Shadow Isles, Shurima, Targon, and Zaun. The languages tied to them are Ixtali, Targonian, and Shuriman. Champions linked to the Darkin include Aatrox, Azir, Kayle, Kayn, Kennen, LeBlanc, Malzahar, Master Yi, Morgana, Naafiri, Nasus, Pantheon, Renekton, Tryndamere, Varus, Vladimir, Xayah, Xin Zhao, Yunara, Zaahen, and Zoe.
