Human

Humans are the most widespread sapient beings on Runeterra, though where they first appeared on the planet has never been established. What records exist trace the bulk of human migration back to three sources: the lands east of Ionia, Ionia proper, and the Freljord. From those origins the race spread widely enough that most champions of the universe are either human, descended from human sub-races, or belong to species that began with humans. As a people, humans vary enormously in how they look, what they can endure, and what magic they can command. That openness to magic runs deep enough to change the body itself. Contact with the right power can remake a human into an Ascended, an Undead, or a Vastayashai'rei. Humans also interbreed with Ascended, Vastayashai'rei, and Vastaya, and the children of such unions may carry the physical traits, the magical gifts, or both of the attuned parent. Technology reshapes humans as thoroughly as magic does. Cyborgs are humans who have rebuilt themselves with machinery, and the most extreme among them swap out every original part until nothing organic is left, which makes them technological Golem in all but name. Aurelion Sol and Sett are both counted among the champions connected to the race.
