Treant

Treants are nature spirits that have grown into forms of plant life capable of thought. They are counted among Ionia's spirit-kind, an offshoot of the broader spirit lineage, and they qualify as sapient beings rather than simple flora. No language of their own has been recorded. Most treants no longer possess the minds they once had. The ruination that fell upon the Shadow Isles reached them and stripped away nearly all of their awareness, leaving a population changed by that event. Maokai stands as an exception among the treants of the Blessed Isles, spared because the waters of life had already soaked into him when the corruption arrived. Treants appear in connection with the champions Lulu and Maokai. As a species they remain present in Runeterra, with no record of their disappearance.
