Hextech Gemstones

Hextech Gemstones, also known as hex-crystals, are rare magical crystals unearthed in the brackern homeland beneath the Shuriman desert. They are not mere minerals but namestones, the crystalline forms of the ancient brackern, a slumbering race whose life essence is bound within each stone. Every gemstone holds a living soul. Piltovan miners first pulled the crystals from the sands, and the artificers of Piltover soon learned to harness their energy. That discovery launched the hextech revolution, and the crystals came to power everything from weapons to the infrastructure of the city itself. Few among those who used them understood that each one held a sleeping brackern soul, the same kind of ancient being embodied by Skarner. The gemstones sat at the center of Piltover's rise as its inventors raced to build with them. Jayce and Viktor prepared prototype devices driven by a new hextech gemstone, machines Jayce intended to reveal during a public address. Still active and still coveted, the crystals remain both the engine of Piltovan progress and a race held captive in stone.
