Pantheon's Shield and Spear

The shield and spear of Pantheon are relics of the Aspect of War, forged from celestial starfire and carried by every host that the Aspect has ever claimed. For ages they passed from one mortal vessel to the next, each warrior serving as a temporary body for a celestial power far greater than any human. They are counted among the celestial relics of Mount Targon. That long line of hosts was broken when Aatrox killed the Aspect of War itself. Atreus, the mortal who had served as its latest vessel, survived the death of the power within him and refused to give up the weapons. Where earlier bearers fought with the borrowed might of a celestial, Atreus carries the shield and spear on through human will alone, determination in place of divine strength. That loss showed plainly when Atreus confronted Aatrox. Reaching the field of battle, he came before an enemy who could see that little power still flowed through the spear, and that a scar had been burned into both the shield and Atreus's own body. Even with every advantage on his side, Aatrox could not break him, for Atreus stood and fought, lifted by the shouts of the crowd around him. The weapons still hold faint remnants of their Aspect-forged power, yet it is that will, not celestial fire, that now makes them dangerous.
