The Darkin Ballista

The Darkin Ballista is a colossal siege weapon, one of the darkin, encountered in the chronicles of Legends of Runeterra. Bound within its frame is an Ascended warrior who once commanded great armies. Where that warlord once led the living into battle, its being is now trapped in the shape of a massive war engine. Its origin lies in the Darkin War. Once a commander among the Ascended Host of Shurima, the warrior was sealed into ballista form during that conflict, imprisoned within the weapon rather than slain. Even locked in metal and turned to dark purpose, it keeps the strategic cunning it wielded as a living general, the mind of a warlord confined to the body of a machine. As a weapon, the ballista looses bolts of corrupted dark energy across vast distances, striking targets far beyond the range of any ordinary siege engine. It remains sealed to this day, the Darkin within it still bound, a relic of Shurima and the Ascended wars that once scarred Runeterra.
