The Darkin Fan

The Darkin Fan is a deceptively elegant weapon that houses a sealed Darkin, an Ascended imprisoned within its ornate form during the Darkin War. It appears as a beautiful hand fan, yet conceals razor-sharp edges and the corrupting influence of the Ascended trapped inside, capable of manipulating the air itself into cutting winds. Over the centuries, its lovely surface has lured many unsuspecting victims into taking it up. The Darkin bound within the fan is Praa the Breachwalker, a powerful warrior who answers to Aatrox. Long held dormant, Praa has never stopped straining against his prison. Stirred from slumber by his general's call, he pushes against the divide between worlds, driven onward for Aatrox, for victory, for peace, and for death, and in his own telling steps through that divide to bury his feet in Runeterra's soil once more. The artifact came to rest in a liminal space in Ionia, where the veil between realms runs thin. Shen, the Eye of Twilight, sensed a growing threat localized around the fan: a shadow in the bridge between worlds that pulses with silent rage. He warned that the pulse had lately grown stronger and faster, and feared the creatures of the spirit realm would soon begin searching for it. The fan remains sealed, its Darkin restless but contained. The pressure around it only builds, and the nearness of the spirit realm in Ionia makes the artifact a flashpoint, a beautiful shell that hides the hateful will of a Darkin waiting for the moment it can break loose.
