The Darkin Halberd

The Darkin Halberd is a polearm that holds a sealed Darkin warrior within it, one of the cursed weapons chronicled in Legends of Runeterra. Its form marries the long reach of a spear to the cutting power of an axe, a killing tool built for the sweep of open ground. The being trapped inside was not always a weapon. During the great sealing, a Darkin warrior was bound into halberd form by Targonian magic, imprisoned within the blade rather than destroyed. That captive Darkin lends its wielder supernatural combat prowess, but it exacts a terrible price in return: the slow surrender of the bearer's humanity, until the soul that grips the shaft is no longer wholly their own. Like the other darkin, the halberd hungers for war. It craves open battle and grows stronger the longer a fight endures, feeding on prolonged combat so that each passing moment sharpens rather than tires it. The weapon remains sealed, its imprisoned warrior still bound within, a relic of Shurima's Ascended and the wars that once scarred Runeterra.
