The Darkin Staff

The Darkin Staff is one of the sealed Darkin, an Ascended being bound within the form of a physical weapon. The presence trapped inside was once a healer, a shaman devoted to mending and restoration, before corruption stripped that purpose away and remade it. In its bound state the staff counts among the Darkin whose reach extends across Shurima and out into the wider lands of Runeterra. Its downfall came during the Void War. The Ascended healer, who had once turned its power toward restoring the living, fell to the same corruption that claimed the other Darkin and was ultimately sealed into the shape of a staff. What survives is the outline of its former calling, hollowed out and turned against itself. The weapon still carries the healing magic of that earlier life, but its function has been inverted into a grotesque parody. Rather than restore, it channels dark magic to drain the life force of its enemies, siphoning that stolen vitality into whoever carries it. The staff remains sealed, its corrupted Ascended held within.
