Zed's Shadow Blades

Zed's shadow blades are a matched pair of retractable, twin-pointed blades that spring from his forearms, forged from tempered Ionian steel. Alongside them he keeps two large shuriken slung across his back. In his hands the arm-blades are far more than ordinary steel, for he has bound forbidden shadow magic into them. That magic he stole from the sealed temple of the Kinkou Order, the keepers of Ionian balance he once served before breaking with them to walk the path of shadow. Charged with that shadow energy, the blades let him project deadly shadow clones and slip instantly between them. Each blade is a physical sign of his mastery of the shadow arts and of his rejection of the traditional balance the Kinkou uphold. For all his defiance of tradition, Zed remains, like many of his fellow Ionians, fiercely devoted to his homeland. As master of the Order of Shadow he still carries these weapons, and they remain wielded rather than lost, an enduring extension of the dark choice that set him apart from the discipline of his former masters.
